Federal officials disclosed that the freight aircraft’s port side wing caught fire and an motor fell off shortly after takeoff from the aviation hub, causing the plane to crash and explode into a fireball.

The NTSB announced it is investigating the aircraft’s upkeep logs, that was in the state for maintenance several weeks before the crash.

Flight tracking data revealed the plane was on the tarmac in San Antonio, Texas from 3 September to last week.

“We are aware that this plane was there in that city,” stated an NTSB member on the following day, without providing a precise date range. “We will look at all elements of repairs that was done, even the Texas period, all the way to the time of the flight.”

Findings of Vital Components

The audio device and data recorder were retrieved, and the motor was located on the tarmac.

The units – called flight recorders – were built to endure collision damage and severe fire from infernos, and they looked to be undamaged when discovered within the crash debris. Investigators plan on reviewing data from the recorders.

The plane’s last recorded information indicated an height of 475 ft and a rate of that speed prior to the accident.

Per aviation authority files dated that date, a crack on a component within the fuel container required fixes.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which said it provides airframe maintenance for the company’s aircraft and manages a maintenance center in that city, declined to speak, but said it would cooperate fully when relevant authorities contacted it.

Services Resume

Meanwhile, UPS Worldport services continued Wednesday night with its Next Day Air or evening process, representative Jim Mayer confirmed. All three runways at the airport were additionally open again.

The sorting center in Louisville is the company’s largest. The hub engages more than twenty thousand individuals in the region, handles numerous aircraft daily and sorts more than four hundred thousand parcels per hour.

Local Support

A memorial was conducted on the night of 6 November by the area labor union, which supports staff at the airfield, the organization’s biggest shipping facility.

The union chapter, which stands for employees, commenced the memorial with a quiet tribute at the evening hour, the estimated moment of the accident before.

“This tragedy was so abrupt, so unforeseen,” the leader addressed the assembly of attendees. “No one had a chance to part to each of those who we have said farewell to.”
